Please Post & Distribute:

Don't Give Up. We Can Win the Battle with PBS Over the Rape of Nanking.

Two months ago, Mexican-Americans demanded that PBS include their contributions in the PBS series on WWII. PBS refused, behaved dishonestly, made up dozens of excuses,

was accused of racism and bigotry, and finally agreed to make changes.

In the last 7 days, thousands of Chinese Americans have contacted PBS, WGBH, etc., urging they show the highly acclaimed documentary, The Rape of Nanking.

In an anonymous letter to me (Dr. Joseph) WGBH stated they "reviewed the film online," which is very low resolution and less than 100 MB in size. The DVD version is broadcast

resolution and over 16 Gigabytes in size. When I (Dr Joseph) pointed this out, WGBH, in its rejection letter to supporters, covered up and hid the fact that it is the low resolution

"online" copy that does not meet their "technical" standards. WGBH is behaving dishonestly. Note I have offered to cooperate with PBS, WGBH, etc., to make any reasonable

changes.

Don't Give Up.

I have contacted several elected officials and newspaper reporters (TV critics), and have spoken with an editor at the New York Times who is interested in this story. If we

continue the pressure, the Chinese people, and history, will be the winner.

Don't Give Up. We are winning this battle. You should also consider contacting your local newspaper's TV Critic.

I have composed a new email (see below), and a new e-mail address to contact the president of PBS: [email protected]

PBS President Kerger: Please Show the Rape of Nanking

Dear President Kerger:

We are urging PBS to show some flexibility and to show the highly acclaimed documentary film, The Rape of Nanking." The director has agreed to work with PBS to make any

reasonable changes.

In the recent series on WWII, PBS failed to make any mention of the contributions of China or Chinese-Americans. China was a major Allie of the USA, over 30 million Chinese

were killed, and 1 million Japanese were fighting in China. Instead, PBS emphasized Japanese suffering and the bravery of Japanese soldiers.

PBS is planning to show yet another documentary glorifying the bravery of Japanese soldiers but continues to ignore the contributions of China and the Chinese people. This

type of programming is biased, dishonest and racist.

Thousands of Chinese-Americans have requested that PBS and PBS stations such as WGBH, air the highly acclaimed documentary, The Rape of Nanking, this December, the

70th anniversary of the Rape of Nanking. KQED rejected the film because they believed the topic was "controversial." This is dishonest. WGBH "reviewed the online film" which

is low resolution and less than 100 mb and then rejected the low resolution edition because of "technical" reasons. This is dishonest. PBS has chosen to ignore these requests

and to make excuses. As PBS has a mandate to serve the public, ignoring these requests or making excuses is dishonest.

PBS is publically funded. PBS has a mandate to serve the public. We are requesting that PBS, WGBH, etc., air the highly acclaimed documentary, The Rape of Nanking, which has

been viewed an estimated 10 million times world wide, 4 million times in the US, and is ranked #9 "Most Discussed Film of All Time" -youtube.
