In the subsequent retreat he ralllied the cracking line and prevented the Russians crossing the Dnieper. A dazzling counter-stroke threw them back a long way and recaptured Kharkov, in March 1943.

......That ended the military career of the Allies' most formidable military opponent - a man who combined modern ideas of mobility with a classical sense of manoeuvre, a master of technical detail, and great driving power."

如果你把我文章最后对莫德尔的评价，跟利德尔-哈特对曼施坦因的评价对照，你会发现我的评价要冷静客观很多，根本见不到利德尔-哈特的那些溢美之词，所以谈不上“由色生情”。我文章也没有探讨莫德尔的战争责任问题，唯一的论点是他并不是一个死硬的纳粹份子，而是一个典型的德军将领，他的所作所为并不比其他绝大多数德军将领过分。
