My friend's wife used to be in a sociaology PhD program. From what I heard from her, 1, sociaology is hard. It uses a lot of mathematical and statistical tools that even a finance PhD student (my friend himself) feels frustrated. Of course, this is for PhD program and I am not sure about the master's program. 2. It is not easy to find a job and the job is probably paid very low. Sociaology PhD is paid less than a normal MBA (not the top school MBAs).

Of course, if your wife has strong interest in sociaology, then nothing stops her.
