第一，不是说有十杯咖啡，就只能发行十杯咖啡的货币量。还应该考虑货币流通速度！货物是流通的，货币是用来使货物流通变得顺畅。其次，根本就没有什么衡量“绝对价值”的单位。如果人类的消费习惯变了，也许消费平的相对价格就会变化很大。

Second, it would be ridiculous to hide the value of yuan. If no ones knows how much yuan is worth, no one will accept yuan. To tie yuan to commodities means if a person turns the yuan to the issuer of the country, China here, to ask for conversion, the issuer is obligated to give the person every kind of commodity backing the yuan. If this is the case, then China might have trouble to keep the convertibility of yuan and therefore reduce its credibility. This is the exact reason why dollar has to go off the hook of gold.

Some thoughts:

The very reason dollar can be the world currency is because people need dollar to buy stuff from USA. Not the other way around. Don't be fooled by the trade deficit number of US. The key determination regarding the currency power between USA and China is the pricing power of the exportable between the two. USA can shop clothes or home appliances around the southeast Asia. But China doesn't have too many choices. That's why yuan is dominated by dollar.
