Well, actually, Liu Lanfang's YueFeiZhuan came the first, from early 1979 to early 1980, if I remember correctly. Then came Shan Tianfang's SuiTang YanYi, from 1980 to 1981. Then Liu's Yuefei got re-broadcast in 81 or 82.

Yuan Kuocheng's ZhuJiaZhuang and ShenZhouLei were aired at about the same time that Shan's Suitang was.

I think Shan's version of Suitang in 80-81 (aired by TangShan Radio Station) is the very best among all Suitang versions. And I really don't understand why Shan edited his 80-81 version into the current version, which is so plain and bland...

Shan's 3-kindom sucks... Hate to say this but that's the fact.

Yuan's two re-arranged Shuihu stories are of great quality, although it requires significant editing work be done to make them true masterpieces. I think I wrote a thread about Yuan's Zhujiazhuang and Shenzhoulei here on this forum.

Great to know that so many people listened to and got fascinated to the great story-tellings 20+ years back... Guys, stay tuned and let's share those memories.
