英裔白人--the percentage of grandparents raising grandchildren is much lower than in China. It is true that some families will take care of their grandchildren, but the common belief is that it is better to let the parents raise the kids. There is potential role competition between mom and grandmother.

I was invited by my English American colleague for Thanksgiving dinner every year. Every year, his son will bring grandchildren back and his house will be a big mess for 2 days. Privately, he always told me that for one or two day is really a joy to have grandchildren around, but he and his wife could not tolerate any longer more than that.
