应该是IED-Improvised Explosive Devices.

今天华尔街日报正好有一篇文章提到七月是美军伤亡最多的一个月，其中很多就是被IED干掉的：

“Improvised explosive devices—homemade bombs crafted by insurgents—are the deadliest tool against NATO troops, causing 58% of coalition deaths so far this year. June was the deadliest month for soldiers from all coalition countries in the nearly nine-year war, with 102 fatalities compared with a total of 86 coalition deaths in July so far, Icasualties.org said.

Many of the IEDs are planted along roads used by NATO vehicles, mostly in the southern and eastern parts of the country, where the majority of U.S. troops are being deployed as part of a surge announced by President Barack Obama in December.

"The Taliban frequently say that they have absolutely no shortage of IEDs," said Matthew Waldman, an independent analyst based in Kabul. "From the Taliban's point of view, the U.S. surge means more targets. IEDs are killing record numbers of international soldiers and there's little that can be done to mitigate the threat."”
