During the campaign, the two old folks were in their early twenties, fearless junior officers of about the ranks of Lt./Capt., already veterans of 1946-1949.

Those were the days when a young man can serve and excel, in front of rain of steel and fire. My father was wounded twice, I remember seeing the scar on his shoulder when he took me to bath when I was very little, the scar was from shrapnels of ariel bombs. Later I heard a story from him about the wound -- it was back from a recon misson at the front back to HQ, the soldier who serves as messanger, the drive, and himself riding a Jeep. For a moment his veteran's instinct felt something wrong, and in split seconds he ordered the team "jump!". And sure enough, the Jeep was sprayed with 30mm bullets and bombs right after, by a US marine or navy fighter/bomber flying very low altitude. He got a shrapnel touching the shoulder, but that was very fortunate.
